The day is beginning the same way it always does. I anticipate the day will follow its usual routine, as well. This is how life is in the winter.
Spring…. Ah, now there’s a time of year I quite enjoy. The trees, the grass, the bushes – everything has its own unique scent that is only emitted in the spring, when the earth begins to wake after its long rest. Even the earth itself emits a pungent, intoxicating fragrance so powerful that it’s impossible to not be affected by it. You can’t help but breathe it in as deeply as possible to fill every fiber of your being. You can try not to do that, but your body, mind, and spirit work together in that moment and all you can do is go along with it. Before you know it, you’re breathing in that aroma so deeply that suddenly, all you know is that moment. For a few moments in time, nothing else has any meaning. There is only that moment. That intoxicating, mind-altering, life-changing moment of connection to the earth.
Okay, so maybe my description sounds like some kind of super-psychedelic drug. But so what? We all need that allegorical “magic carpet ride”. People are so busy rushing around these days that no one has time to stop and smell the proverbial roses. I think everyone should make time to take time out of their day, find a place where the earth is rich and dark, and just breathe. You’d be surprised at how healing that can be.
That’s all I have to say.
